Life Inside The Gates

What It's Like to Live Here

Jonathan's Landing is the most accessible country club community in Jupiter, and that is not an apology. The community spans 600 acres at the corner of Alternate A1A and Indiantown Road, just west of the Intracoastal Waterway. Of the total acreage, 125 to 145 acres is dedicated to saltwater channels, freshwater lagoons, and tropical green space. The community was founded in the early 1970s and named for Jonathan Dickinson, the 17th-century Quaker who shipwrecked on the Jupiter coast in 1696 and survived to write one of early Florida's most important historical narratives. Streets within the gates are named after his companions: Captain Kirle, Solomon Cresson, Robert Barrow.

What makes Jonathan's Landing different from every other community in this roster is the housing diversity. 1,213 residences across 27 distinct villages, ranging from $429,000 entry-level condos in communities like West Bay and Waterbend to $10 million-plus waterfront estates on Casseekey Island. Eighteen of the 27 villages are dedicated to single-family residences. The other nine are condominium, villa, and townhome communities, most with their own private pool, dock, or golf cart parking. Construction spans 1979 to 2007, with significant renovations active across the inventory. Nothing else in Jupiter offers this range of price points behind a single gate.

The Jonathan's Landing Golf Club is private and member-owned, but membership is optional. That is the second major differentiator. Buyers can purchase a home and skip the club entirely, or they can pick from four tiers: Golf, Sports, Tennis, House. Most country club communities in the area require mandatory equity buy-ins running into six figures. Jonathan's Landing does not. The community is governed by an HOA and the club is governed separately by its members. The flexibility is part of why the buyer pool is broader here than at the ultra-luxury clubs nearby.

Schools are A-rated Palm Beach County public: Lighthouse Elementary, Beacon Cove Intermediate, Jupiter Middle, Jupiter Community High. The Benjamin School is the dominant private alternative. The community even has its own retail center, the Shoppes of Jonathan's Landing, with a Publix grocery store, pharmacy, liquor store, and other essentials. Jupiter beaches are minutes east on Indiantown Road.

The Three Courses

Tom Fazio, Arthur Hills, and a Ferry Boat

The Jonathan's Landing Golf Club gives members three distinct championship courses, two designers, and one of the most photographed signature holes in Northern Palm Beach golf. The JL Village Course sits inside the community itself, designed by Tom Fazio in the late 1970s. The fairways wind among lakes, waterways, and 27 residential villages, with the final three holes consistently described as one of the toughest finishing stretches in Palm Beach County golf. The par-five 17th is the showstopper. The hole is on a separate island, and the only way to reach the green is by the JL Village Ferryboat, which shuttles players and their carts across the Intracoastal Waterway. There is no other hole quite like it in South Florida.

The other two courses are at Old Trail in Ranch Colony, a sister private community in Jupiter's western region. The Fazio at Old Trail, also a Tom Fazio design, has been described as one of his best layouts in the state. The course is surrounded by undisturbed nature preserve and routinely hosts USGA championship qualifiers, Florida State Golf Association events, and Palm Beach County championship competition. The Hills at Old Trail, designed by Arthur Hills, is a shotmaker's course that rewards accuracy over power. Rolling terrain, cypress hammocks, and towering pines define the setting.

Membership is the part most prospective buyers ask about, because Jonathan's Landing handles it differently. Equity and non-equity memberships are available at four tiers: Golf, Sports, Tennis, and House. Tee times are always available, and PGA-certified professionals match new members to appropriate playing groups. Membership is not mandatory with home ownership. Even summer-only memberships are offered for seasonal residents. Non-resident memberships are also available, expanding the club's social mix beyond just the homeowner base.

The JL Village Course

Tom Fazio designed the on-site course in the late 1970s. The fairways wind among the 27 residential villages, with lakes, lagoons, and waterways throughout. The par-five 17th hole is the signature: a separate island green reached only by the JL Village Ferryboat. Finishing three holes considered among the toughest in Palm Beach County.

The Fazio at Old Trail

The true championship course, also Tom Fazio. Located at Ranch Colony in western Jupiter. Surrounded by undisturbed nature preserve. Hosts USGA qualifiers, Florida State Golf Association championships, and Palm Beach County events. Considered one of Fazio's best designs in Florida.

USGA Qualifying Venue

The Hills at Old Trail

Arthur Hills design. A shotmaker's course that rewards accuracy and strategy over distance. Rolling terrain, cypress hammocks, and towering pines define the setting. Even the short holes provide stimulating challenge. A genuine contrast to the Fazio-designed sister courses.

Common Questions

Jonathan's Landing FAQs

Is Club membership required when I buy a home?+
No. This is one of the things that distinguishes Jonathan's Landing from most other country club communities in Jupiter. Club membership is optional with home purchase. Buyers can elect Golf, Sports, Tennis, or House memberships at either equity or non-equity tiers, or skip the club entirely. The community is governed by an HOA, while the club is governed separately by its members. Non-resident memberships are also available, expanding the club's social mix beyond the homeowner base.
What is the price range for homes?+
The price range is the widest of any country club community in Jupiter. Condos in villages like West Bay, Waterbend, and Traders Crossing start around $429,000. Townhomes range from the mid $500Ks to over $1.5 million. Single-family homes run from approximately $1 million to $3 million. Estate homes on Casseekey Island and Barrow Island can exceed $10 million. The median sale price over the trailing 12 months is $910,000, with average sales at $1.23 million across 71 transactions and a 94 percent list-to-sell ratio.
Who is Jonathan Dickinson and why is the community named for him?+
Jonathan Dickinson was a 17th-century Quaker merchant whose ship wrecked on the Jupiter coast in September 1696. He, his family, and a small party of companions survived the wreck and then made a difficult overland journey north to St. Augustine. Dickinson's published journal of the experience became one of the most important historical documents of early colonial Florida. When the community was being developed in the early 1970s, the founders selected 1696 as the symbolic year and named streets within the gates after Dickinson's shipwrecked companions: Captain Kirle, Solomon Cresson, and Robert Barrow. The Jonathan Dickinson State Park sits just north of Jupiter and bears the same name.
Can I keep a boat at Jonathan's Landing?+
Yes. The community has an on-site full-service marina operated by Loggerhead Marinas, located at 3238 Casseekey Island Road. Wet slips, dry-stack storage, fuel dock, pump-out, and dockside services are all available. Many individual homes also have private docks, including some condominium villages where slips are assigned to specific units. Estate homes on Casseekey Island and Barrow Island typically have direct Intracoastal frontage with private docks capable of accommodating yachts up to 100 feet. Ocean access is direct, with no fixed bridges between the community and the Jupiter Inlet.
Is it spelled Jonathan's Landing or Jonathans Landing?+
The official community name is Jonathan's Landing with an apostrophe, named for the explorer Jonathan Dickinson. Jonathans Landing without the apostrophe is a common variant in search queries, signage, and casual references, but the Jonathan's Landing Property Owners Association and Jonathan's Landing Golf Club brand both retain the apostrophe. Both spellings refer to the same 1,213-home gated golf and waterfront community in Jupiter, Florida.
