Panther National at Avenir
218 modern estates on 400 acres inside the 4,752-acre Avenir master-planned community in Palm Beach Gardens. The only Jack Nicklaus and Justin Thomas co-design in the world. Max Strang architecture. Palm Beach's first new luxury golf community in nearly 20 years.
What It's Like to Live Here
Every other private golf club community in Palm Beach County looks the same. Mediterranean Revival, Tuscan, Spanish, terracotta roofs over stucco walls, all of it borrowed from the 1920s playbook of Addison Mizner. Panther National looked at that consensus and walked the other way. The first home you see is glass and stone and unbroken horizontal line, set against a 2,400-acre stretch of protected panther habitat that will never be developed. The 17th green sits where a working ranch used to be. The bunkers are filled with sand sourced from Augusta, St. Andrews, Pinehurst, and Pebble Beach. You play all four majors before you reach the turn.
The course is the first Justin Thomas has ever designed. He co-designed it with Jack Nicklaus, who has called the parcel the last buildable piece of premium land in Palm Beach County. Whether that turns out to be true or not, it is fair to say this is Palm Beach's first new luxury golf community in nearly twenty years, and probably its last for another twenty. There is no land left like this.
Panther National sits on 400 acres on the western edge of Avenir, a 4,752-acre master plan rising on the former Vavrus Ranch and developed by Coral Gables-based Landstar Group. Avenir is the most ambitious build to come to Palm Beach County in a generation: nearly 4,000 new homes, a 16,000 square foot resort clubhouse, a working Town Center with 400,000 square feet of retail and 2,000,000 square feet of office space, a planned 300-room hotel, and over 2,400 acres of permanent Everglades restoration. Apex by GL Homes, Regency by Toll Brothers, and DiVosta all build inside Avenir. Panther National is the only modern community among them, and it sets the aesthetic ceiling for the entire master plan.
The architecture is all Max Strang, the Miami firm known for what it calls environmental modernism. Clean lines. Integration with the natural site. Expansive glass. Dramatic indoor-outdoor transitions. Every one of the 218 custom estates is a Strang design. Homes range from 4,100 to nearly 10,000 square feet across fourteen floor plans on three lot sizes (0.30, 0.50, and 1.0 acre). A Tesla partnership integrates solar power and clean energy across the community. Buyers choose Signature Estates ($4.7M, turn-key with Strang interiors) or Custom Homes ($5.25M, full design specification with the architect). Club membership is mandatory at purchase, with a $500,000 initiation.
The man behind all of it is Dominik Senn, a Swiss former alpine ski racer who founded a Zurich sports management firm before turning to real estate. His brief to Nicklaus, Thomas, and Strang was singular: design a modern golf community that looks and plays unlike anything else in Florida. It took two and a half million cubic feet of dirt to build. The result is a place that does not look like Palm Beach County. That is exactly the point.
A Generational Pairing in Course Design
An 18-hole championship layout from the greatest golfer of all time and his successor on Tour. 210 acres. 8,000 yards from the back tees. Bunker sand from each of the four majors. The first Justin Thomas co-design in golf history.
Nicklaus, Thomas, and the Sand from Four Majors
The 18-hole championship course at Panther National is the first golf design Justin Thomas has ever put his name to, and Jack Nicklaus chose him specifically. The pairing is intentional. Thomas began the project at 29, the same age Nicklaus started his design career consulting with Pete Dye on Harbour Town in 1969. Two generations of major champions, one course. Nicklaus brought 425 designs across 45 countries to the project. Thomas brought a current Tour player's perspective on how the modern game is actually played.
The site itself was a featureless flat. According to Head Professional Adam Schafer, 2.5 million cubic feet of dirt was moved to create the elevation changes and dramatic vistas that now define the course. The result plays from 4,500 yards at the forward tees to 8,000 yards from the back JT tees. Nicklaus called the site a unicorn because it had zero environmental restrictions, a first in his decades of design work. The course was built to challenge top professionals while remaining playable for members and guests of any skill level.
The detail that captures the project's ambition best is the bunkers. Each bunker on the course is filled with sand sourced directly from one of the four major championships: The Masters at Augusta National, the U.S. Open, The Open Championship at links courses in Scotland and England, and the PGA Championship. Members play one round that touches all four. The complementary 9-hole Par-3 course features holes ranging from 90 to 150 yards, designed to replicate the approach shots members will face on the championship course. The Cub, a separate putting course, was inspired directly by the Himalayas Putting Course at St. Andrews.
Sand From Four Majors
Every bunker on the course is filled with sand sourced from one of the four major championships: The Masters, U.S. Open, The Open, and PGA Championship. A detail no other course in the world offers. Members play through all four major settings in a single round.

“I never minded environmental restrictions because I think that makes part of the character of the golf course. We had to create our own character here. You didn't have anything to work off of.”Jack Nicklaus, Course Co-Designer

Talk to Someone Who Knows Panther National
Panther National at Avenir is one of the most active and rapidly evolving luxury markets in Palm Beach County. The community is still actively delivering homes, custom inventory is moving fast, and resale activity on brand-new estates is beginning to develop a market of its own. Choosing between a Signature Estate, a half-acre custom, and a one-acre custom involves real trade-offs around timing, design control, and resale liquidity. And understanding how Panther National sits within the broader Avenir master plan, alongside Apex, Regency, and the other Avenir neighborhoods, matters for long-term positioning. Lost Tree Realty knows the community at the lot level. Whether you are buying or selling, we will walk you through every step.
