If you build it, will they come?

“If you build it, will they will come?”

They are coming anyway. With the steady stream of people and businesses flocking to South Florida it’s no surprise that the premier golf clubs have been forced to implement wait lists. The number of rounds are up, as are the costs of initiation and dues. Several new projects could vastly change the golfing landscape.

No less than 6 new courses are slated with various delivery dates. First, in Palm Beach County is Panther National. This exclusive enclave of 218 custom estates pairs environmental-modern elegance with visionary engineering for effortless luxury. Designed by architect Max Strang, ultra-modern amenities surround a championship golf course co-designed by Jack Nicklaus and Justin Thomas, redefining the private golf club lifestyle. World-class training facilities feature ball-tracing technology, along with an additional 9-hole par 3 course.

The other real estate anchored development is headed by the Discovery Land Company in Martin County to be named Atlantic Fields. This project is on Bridge Road east of 95 adjacent to Grove XXIII. The golf course is to be designed by renowned architect Tom Fazio. The Polo Fields will remain, and there will be considerable wetlands restoration and public access to Atlantic Ridge State Park.

The Reyes brothers, tapped Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw to add another 18 holes to the grounds at the McArthur Golf Club, which they own is also located in Hobe Sound. This project is slated to be complete in the spring of ’23. Early word says this will elevate an already elite golf experience. https://www.cooreandcrenshaw.com/current-projects.html (Pictured above)

Not to be outdone, Michael Pascucci, owner and developer of Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton NY, has teamed up with Stephen Ross chairman and founder of Related companies and owner of the Miami Dolphins to bring you Three Lakes. Plans for the club include three 18-hole golf courses, practice range and short game practice facilities, two short courses, golf maintenance facilities, two clubhouses and many other features, amenities and activities. The project is a sprawling 54 hole golf club. Gil Hanse, Kyle Phillips, and Tom Fazio II/Mike Davis are on the ticket for this Martin County development, though exact details are yet-to-be-revealed, Gil’s team is expected to take on the West portion, Fazio II/Davis will handle the South, and Phillips for the North.

Available land in South Florida is one of the biggest obstacles for development, as such, these projects are off the beaten track. Will these projects create enough allure to draw people from the surrounds, or will pure demand fill the rosters out? Only time will tell. As if this weren’t enough there’s rumor of another 36 hole facility in the works.

Feel free to contact me for more information on these or other projects in our area.
